Following a recent review of the plans, Dublin County Board CEO, John Costello, gave his support to the club’s new development at their home at Hyde Park in Dalkey.
Speaking afterwards, Costello said:
This project is very impressive. It puts improved sports facilities at its core, and will be a significant enhancement in the local community.
The proposed new clubhouse will provide facilities to match Cuala’s ambitions and will be aligned with the goals of the club as set out in its Strategic Plan 2018 - 2022.
This landmark project is currently at the planning stage with the full design ready to be submitted. The team hopes to be successful in their application to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in the coming months. From there, the team will put the project out to tender. The process will run in parallel to a fundraising campaign, #Home4Cuala.
The Hyde Park Project will be the first of its kind in terms of environmental sustainability. It will be the first sports facility in Ireland to be awarded LEED Gold standard. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system in the world.
Speaking at the event, Costello said:
As an organisation rooted in our communities, the GAA places a high priority on building facilities that take account of our responsibilities to the environment. Cuala are taking a leadership role in this regard with the high standard set for this development.
